$2,100 towards $3,000

As many of you know, I currently serve as President of the Los Alamos Historical Society Board of Directors and volunteer in several ways. We recently were given a special house by Jerry & Helene Suydam. This historic Bathtub Row House was the residence of J. Robert Oppenheimer's family in the 1940's.

Plans are underway to add historical interpretation and include the home in museum tours, with occasional use for special events. The charming living room where the Oppenheimer's entertained guests will be a place to educate our community & visitors. The original house was built in 1929, and we have a list of repairs and renovations to complete in order to prepare the house for the public.

We are seeking a boost in our Oppenheimer House Rehabilitation Plan fundraising efforts on Giving Tuesday, November 30. Phase 1 repair assessments include asbestos removal, surveys and groundwork, foundational structural work, interior repairs, lead paint remediation, drawing for building permits, and electrical, heating, and plumbing upgrades.

Please consider making a contribution to help us complete Phase 1 improvements to open the Oppenheimer House to the public next fall. CLICK HERE for a detailed plan and the total expenses for this renovation. Scroll down on our project page to see a 360-degree video of the living room. We have set a funding goal for Giving Tuesday and hope you will help us reach it.

Additionally, if you would prefer, you may mail a check to Los Alamos Historical Society, P.O. Box 43, Los Alamos, NM 87544. Please note the contribution is for the Oppenheimer House Renovation Fund/Giving Tuesday effort. If you would rather, you may also deliver a check to us at the museum at any time.

Thank you for joining us in this important effort!
